A meadowlark is a grassland bird often seen perched on fences singing their whistles and warbles.


This illustration is modeled on a late 17th century chinoiserie-style wallpaper residing at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Chinoiserie contains Chinese motifs filtered through a Western lens. These hand-painted wallpapers began an interiors fashion trend that lasted into the 18th century.
